Everyone understands the human body is susceptible to illness and at times we need medical attention to restore good health. Likewise, people also succumb to emotional and psychological problems.
Symptoms can be many and varied. Some people say they feel ‘shut down’ and withdrawn; others feel anxious and confused and have trouble understanding what’s happening around them. Just as you'd see a doctor for a medical condition, if you experience these types of symptoms it's important to seek professional help. By seeking treatment early, you can greatly improve the likelihood of a good outcome.
The Hollywood Clinic offers a range of day patient and inpatient mental health programs developed in collaboration with our accredited psychiatrists. We provide group treatment programs and individually tailored programs which we create in consultation with a patient’s admitting psychiatrist. We also offer daily relaxation and mindfulness meditation.
Our programs are conducted by an experienced, multidisciplinary team of health professionals including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, specialist nurses, occupational therapists, social workers, an art therapist, physiotherapists and dieticians. All Hollywood Clinic staff work together to deliver comprehensive coordinated treatment plans to patients.
The day programs at The Hollywood Clinic are designed to provide patients with the skills and support they need to improve the quality and enjoyment of their lives and to break the cycle of relapse and the need for hospitalisation. Day programs are run as group therapy sessions and are conducted by our experienced and caring team including psychiatrists, psychologists, an art therapist, occupational therapists, social workers and mental health nurses. Patients attend these on set days which vary according to each program.
Our day programs include:
Before you can start a day program at The Hollywood Clinic, you will need a referral from your GP or psychiatrist. All patients attending our day programs must be under the care of a private psychiatrist who needs to be accredited with The Hollywood Clinic. After discharge, many patients find they also benefit from working with a psychologist or other health professionals to provide ongoing support.
In most cases, costs are covered by private health insurance or by the Department of Veteran's Affairs (DVA). If you don’t have private health cover, please phone The Hollywood Clinic for information regarding costs for self-funded patients on (08) 9346 6803.
The Hollywood Clinic offers a holistic approach to treatment where we focus on healing the mind and body. A thorough assessment is carried out to determine the cause of any problems and to ensure appropriate treatment can begin.
We offer two inpatient programs whereby patients are admitted to The Hollywood Clinic for a period of time, usually a few weeks, depending on individual need.
Our inpatient programs are:
1. General acute admission program
2. Eating disorders inpatient program.
Both programs utilise therapies including:
We know caring for a someone with a mental illness can be challenging. For this reason, we host a weekly carers support group for people who have a family member or loved one at The Hollywood Clinic. Supporting carers is part of our broader philosophy as it goes a long way to assisting with patient recovery and wellbeing.
