Eating Disorder Day Patient
||Day Patient Program
||An open program which runs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for an agreed four week period. Further treatment is dependant on progress.
|Who is it for
The Eating Disorder Program focuses on recovery and helps participants develop the knowledge and skills to overcome unhelpful eating behaviours and mindsets. It is suitable for patients 16 years of age and older with less severe eating disorders, or for patients wanting to build on gains made in a recent inpatient stay for an eating disorder. It is designed for individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 16.0 who haven’t been able to benefit from community based treatment.
|About the program
The program includes:
- Supported meals and snacks
- Practical cooking/food preparation groups and social eating outings
- Individual treatment planning and dietetic consultation
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy groups
- Exercise physiology groups
- Peer mentoring sessions
We offer regular individual dietetic appointments for each patient to monitor food choices and set eating plans.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy groups help patients learn how to manage unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Goal setting, emotion regulation and problem solving skills are also important components of the treatment package.
An integral part of this program is a commitment to regular group attendance and practise of the skills introduced.
You will require private health insurance or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) entitlements or agree to self-fund this course.
