Alcohol and Substance Use

Patients at The Hollywood Clinic at a group therapy session for Alcohol and Substance Use

Day patient program
Frequency/duration 12 consecutive week days over a 2½ week period (usually starting on a Monday and finishing on a Tuesday)
About the program

For some people it begins as innocently as social drinking that gets out of hand or a way to cope when the pressure is on. For others it might be prescription drugs. Drug and alcohol dependency can damage your emotional, physical and spiritual health, whatever the substance and whatever the cause. Instead of helping you cope, it’s destroying your life.

This course is designed to help people deal effectively with the factors causing their alcohol and substance abuse behaviours.

The program includes 5 core modules:

  • Identifying triggers to substance use
  • Learning new coping skills to deal with the causes of the problem
  • Understanding and challenging unhelpful core beliefs
  • Relapse prevention strategies
  • Education around alcohol and drug effects

Please note, this program is targeted for those using alcohol, cannabis and prescription drugs.

Additional information You will require private health insurance (top cover in psychiatric) or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) entitlements or agree to self-fund this course.
