Programs Overview

The Hollywood Clinic offers a range of day patient and inpatient mental health programs and therapies developed in collaboration with our accredited psychiatrists. We provide group treatment programs and individually tailored programs (which we create in consultation with a patient’s admitting psychiatrist). We also offer daily relaxation and mindfulness meditation, important components of each patient's therapy.

Our Aim

Our aim is to work towards the fastest possible recovery for each patient, helping them manage their symptoms and work towards leading a full and productive life. While each patient’s program is tailored individually, group therapy sessions are beneficial in giving patients insight into their illness. The therapies used at The Hollywood Clinic help patients develop strategies to cope more effectively in the future.

Our Clinic Team

Patients at The Hollywood Clinic are cared for by our experienced and multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals including psychiatrists, doctors, specialist nurses, psychologists and allied health professionals.

The day programs at The Hollywood Clinic are designed to provide patients with the skills and support they need to improve the quality and enjoyment of their lives and to break the cycle of relapse and the need for hospitalisation. The day programs, run as group therapy sessions, are conducted by our experienced and caring team including psychiatrists, psychologists, an art therapist, occupational therapists, social workers and specialist nurses.

Day Programs include:

Before you can start a day program at The Hollywood Clinic, you will need a referral from your GP or psychiatrist. All patients attending our day programs must be under the care of a private psychiatrist who needs to be accredited with The Hollywood Clinic. (After discharge, many patients find they also benefit from working with a psychologist or other health professionals to provide ongoing support.)

In most cases, costs are covered by private health insurance or by the Department of Veteran's Affairs (DVA). If you don’t have private health cover, please phone The Hollywood Clinic for information regarding costs for self-funded patients on (08) 9346 6801.

Everyone understands the human body is susceptible to illness and at times we need medical attention to restore good health. Likewise, people also succumb to emotional and psychological problems.

The symptoms can be many and varied. Some people say they feel ‘shut down’ and withdrawn, while others feel anxious and confused and have trouble understanding what’s happening around them. Just as you would see a doctor for a medical condition, the best thing you can do for yourself at this time is seek professional help. As with many medical conditions, by seeking treatment early you can greatly improve the likelihood of a good outcome.

The inpatient therapies at The Hollywood Clinic offer a holistic approach to treatment with a focus on healing the mind, body and self. A thorough assessment is carried out to determine the cause of any problems and to ensure appropriate treatment can begin.

Inpatient programs and therapies include:

We know caring for a friend or loved one with a mental illness can be challenging. For this reason, we host a weekly carers support group for people who have a loved one at The Hollywood Clinic. Supporting carers is part of our broader philosophy as it assists patient recovery and wellbeing.
